Abstract

Cacing tanah Metaphire sp. memiliki peran penting dalam meningkatkan kualitas tanah dengan menggali dan mengolah bahan organik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perilaku harian cacing tanah Metaphire sp. sebagai langkah awal untuk keperluan domestikasi. Penelitian dilakukan dengan cara observasi selama 7 hari di Pondok Pesantren an-Nasuchiyyah, pada jam 06.00, 12.00, 16.00, dan 23.00 setiap harinya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa cacing tanah Metaphire sp. lebih aktif pada malam hari untuk mencari makan di permukaan tanah dan menggali. Pada siang hari, cacing cenderung beristirahat di bawah tanah untuk menghindari cahaya dan menjaga kelembapan tubuh. Aktivitas menggali dan makan ini membantu meningkatkan kualitas tanah. Perilaku ini menunjukkan bahwa Metaphire sp. dapat beradaptasi dengan baik di lingkungan yang lembab dan kaya bahan organik, sehingga berpotensi untuk didomestikasi dalam pengelolaan tanah yang lebih baik.
